Eating healthy on a budget

There's a lot of stigma around eating healthy and it being more expensive. However, there are ways of eating a healthy balanced diet without spending extortionate amounts.

Here are some tips:

  • Make a weekly grocery list and try to stick to your price budget.

  • Try to opt for packs of frozen fruit and veg, as these work out to be more cost effective (they're bigger and last longer).

  • If you're often short on time, precooked fish, meats and rice packs can be helpful in cutting down prep time, but still ensuring you're having a balanced meal freshly prepared meal.

  • Plan your meals in advance, working out where you can use the same ingredients for different meals. (Also more cost effective).

  • Opt for cheaper 'healthy' foods (a bag of carrots is around £37p in Aldi, a bag of tomatoes is around 60p)

  • Opt for cheaper sources of protein (A tin of kidney beans is around 50p in Aldi)

  • Multi packs of wholemeal wraps, pitta breads and loaves of bread are usually around £1, and can be filled with salad and a protein source. (A healthy and balanced lunch idea)

There are lots of ways you can still eat healthy whilst being on a budget!
